I’m usually not a fan of wearing a hat in the line up. However many of my mates wear this hat, so I thought I’d give it a try. I can say that the blockage from the sun is fantastic, but even better is when duck diving it’s as if you don’t have a hat on and it stays on securely, so very lightweight as if it’s not even there, but giving you all the protection you need.

The hats are great! They are lightweight and hold their shape well. So far we have only used them kayaking, but we will be wearing them a lot on our surf trip soon!

Works great while surfing. I like that it doesn’t have ear flaps, just fastening strings. Less bulky that way. Stays on no problem and helps a ton with the glare.

The hat has all the ingredients of being a good surf hat but was a bit of a letdown. The brim of the hat is too flimsy and hits my nose each time I duck-dive. This in turn rubs the sunscreen off. Also, the brim of the hat sits too low on the forehead which obstructs your view. I had to constantly adjust the hat so that I could see properly while surfing.

With hair thinning a little I need sunblock on my head. Rubbing sunblock in my hair isn't ideal. I literally wore this hat on a 50' SCUBA dive and it never came off. I wore swimming, in waves, etc... no sunburn and it stays on. I plan to surf with it as well. Perfect hat for sun/water.

I use it for SUP surfing and is great...the straps are light and you don't even feel them. Sometime I have to jump from the board and go under some good sizes waves and the hat didn't really moved or suffered from this. Recommended!!!

It's great for Kitesurfing. Even in higher Winds between 20 to 30 knots the screen is not flapping around when the cap is worn tightly. Also the chin strap is very nice, it's almost invisible and seems pretty sturdy.

…this is a great (not good) surf hat. This hat has been really quite thoughtfully designed to accomplish the objectives of a sun-conscious surfer. UV protection for skin and eyes with functionality and durability in the surf zone. Clever design!

This is a super nice hat. Fits really well, straps can be tucked away when not in the water, provides a lot of shade, looks cool. Wish it was less expensive but it's a great splurge. Or any surfer would love to receive it as a gift. Eh, life is short, just buy it, you won't regret it!

The hat does exactly what it’s supposed to do—it keeps the sun out of my very sensitive eyes and gives me a little more uv protection so I don’t end up looking like an old sun bum. It has stayed on during massive wipeouts and duck dives and it doesn’t block my vision at all. It’s also surprisingly soft and flexible and dries really quickly. The flap up feature only works if you have a certain head shape. It works a little for me but not that much. No big deal, though.
I’ll be honest, this hat doesn’t make me feel very feminine (I’m a woman). That part I don’t love. But the fact that it saves me eyes is what really matters because I can surf longer without squinting.

I live and play in the European Alps, but I needed a reliable hat for 3-season hiking that provided good sun coverage (I am Kelly Slater bald!). I also needed a hat that was not only washable, breathable, and quick-drying, but also one that looked reasonably stylish. This hat delivered on all fronts (I also bought a second colour). To my great and unexpected surprise, I recently used it for a late May ski tour high in the central Swiss Alps. The chin strap was exactly what I needed to keep it attached during my decent! And so, it would appear this hat is ideal not only for surfing, but also for spring/summer ski touring. Thanks Kaiola!
SIZING NOTE: I was a touch nervous when sizing as I was right on the line between the two available sizes. In the end, however, I chose the larger of the two and I'm glad I did. With the adjustment strap, the L/XL fits my closely cropped head perfectly.

Used a broad brimmed hat for many years but always had trouble with it falling off and spending time and energy trying to find it. This hat is great as I didn't have that trouble. Would be great if they developed a broad brimmed hat as well.

Took this cap out in small surf last week and it worked brilliantly. Duck dives and falling off waves, no problems.

I was looking forward to this feature since flipping the bill up will allow better visualization of waves when paddling out. It does not flip up at all.

This really is the best surf hat out there. I'm just your average mid 30s Florida surfer and have tried a half dozen hats from most of the major brands. They either come off easily, look ridiculous or both. This was the most expensive hat and I was hesitant after being disappointed many times before. Thankfully this hat, absolutely worth it, I wish it was around years ago and I would have saved money in the end.
Looks great and stays on well, the bill is perfect, you don't have to drastically adjust your duck dive like other hats. It either folds up or down then returns to its normal position every time. The straps are unobtrusive and tuck easily when not in the water.

Loving my hat. Honestly!! They are so well thought out, technically designed for surfing & look great for hanging on the beach too. Also saves this Mumma time putting on zinc & removing it, not to mention it must be better for my skin that way
