Going to costa rica after another long Oregon winter.......my skin was very pale upon arriving. I know not to under estimate the sun when near the equator. This hat saved me from getting my nose, upper cheeks, and forehead scorched. Not once did it come off or slip back from duck diving. Amazing product that will spare me from having to slather on greasy sunblock!

My wife and I went to Kalon Surf Resort in Costa Rica to learn how to surf. We were worried about the sun (as you can see, I am bald!). After a bit of searching, we stumbled on Kailoa and their collection of surf hats. We're so glad we did! Our Kailoa Shallow Sea and Pure Black hats worked to perfection! While others were burnt by the harsh sun, we were not. Plus, as new surfers, you can imagine how much time we spent falling off our boards. The hats stayed put in the surf. Surfed my face off in midday Sun in Fiji, this hat is secure, and kind of cute - it’s just ace. Slow delivery times because of covid and Christmas delays, the team at Kaiola contacted ME to let me know where it was held up, and to check it had arrived. This was pricey but IMO worth the cost.

Have shied away from wearing hats in the surf for years as they looked a bit “happy”. But really needed to start looking after the dome and tried some other Brand’s. These hats of the rest as they stay on, give where needed and are soft and comfortable. I got two and ended up giving one to a mate as they work so well. Really really happy with the results and hope to keep the old human rust away for a few more years.

We bought one each after looking for ages for a hat that looks great and stays on. We tested them, and they are perfect. I bet heaps of people here n our town will buy one, too. They stay on, no matter what and look just like a regular cap. Don't overthink it, just get one

I love my surf hat and have seen at least 3 others wearing the same hat while surfing Waikiki so it’s definitely catching on here! I’ve lost 3 already so I’m so happy to have one that stays in place. One thing I noticed is the design looks like the logo for Squid Game, just missing a square!

I can't believe how awesome this hat is! So many of my friends saw me with it and decided to go ahead and get one too. I noticed this hat about a year ago but was reluctant to go ahead and buy it because it was pricy. Unfortunately, I was "blessed" with a sensitive skin and have to protect myself from the scorching sun. Not wearing a hat is simply not an option for me. Over the years I tried many surfing hats. All of them did a good job protecting from the sun but always looked ridiculous becuase of the retaining straps. The Kaiola is unique in this sense because its straps are almost invisible. All the other benefits of this hat are a bonus for me: It doesn't move at all in wipeouts and duck dives. It feels very light on the head. I simply put it on and forget about it. This hat is not cheap but definitely worth the price. Save your money messing with the other cheaper hats and go directly with this one. I only wish Kaiola would make a bucket hat vesrion too for better coverage. It would be great for all the water sports that don't involve duckdives: SUPs, Kite surfing, Windsurfing etc.

This hat are very confortable, and they stay in place in wipeouts, i've lost plenty of surf hats. Not this one. If you like the beach and you like to protect yourself from the sun and look great, buy one. yewww

I have surfer's eye and need to wear eye protection in the water. I've tried so many other hats and really didn't like any of them until Kaiola. I have 2-- pink and black. I barely notice that I have them on. They are comfortable and stay in place when I wipe out (which is more often than I'd like). The brim is soft but sturdy and keeps it's shape even after sitting in a bucket under a wet wetsuit for an hour. Buy it! You won't regret it!

Been doing water sports for quite few years I felt I needed something to protect my head and face from UV. Although I was skeptical about how it will sit when I jump of the board , duck dive, get washed by a wave and will have to adjust it all the time, and the price is a bit expensive for a hat, I’ve gave it a shot after reading some reviews, bought two of these, one for me and one for my wife. We’ve used them in surf and we are super happy with them, they stay put when you jump off, duck dive, get washed by a wave, you kind of forget that you have it on, the beak bends so the hat stays put, only thing I regret is that I didn't get one years back - facepalm, seriously dont know why I took me so long to figure out that I need something like this, in my defense I probably thought that they wont make a difference and won’t do the job as well. I would recommend it to all my friends, I’ve actually allready did to a few :) Negatives: Would be good if the price was a bit more accesible.

I bought this hat to use in my swimming pool while playing with my kids. Fit is great, stays in place when being jumped on or swimming underwater and I’m not worried about wrecking one of my other hats that wasn’t designed to get wet. One day I’ll get it into the surf, I promise.

Hat is great and concept is great but for larger heads this hat is a little small so just keep that in mind... I’m a 7.5 or 7 5/8 for those considering. I’m hoping an XXL size gets made in the future, I will definitely buy this hat again. I’ll also say that the customer service is amazing. 3 to 4 emails asking questions on how to make the hat better and an offer for full refund. Rare to get that kind of service these days. Sure this company is going to do well in the future w this approach!!!

I really suffer from squinting in the sun so I’ve been looking for something that looks good and stays in place and stumbled across this, I brought one only to have it nicked by my friend and she loved it so much so I had to get another, and my local surf shop wanted to stock them!!! So that tells you all really. I really great product which fills a whole in the market no one else has, well done guys
